For many Americans, the art of enjoyment and entertainment is best found online. Whereas in the past we were limited to what was on TV, the on-demand era is now well and truly upon us. This is one of the most important parts of modern internet usage, offering us total freedom over what we watch, view and read – and when. However, with so many different streaming services to pick from, you might be unsure of where to even start.
If you feel like this is the case, then we have some solutions for you to consider. Take, for example, the below streaming services. These are seen as some of the best on the internet and should really ramp up your entertainment options.
We’re sure just about everyone in the country has at least heard of Netflix. The popular streaming system is the go-to starting point for many people looking to find top quality entertainment. It’s got hundreds of shows and many Netflix exclusives. From finding awesome cartoons for the kids to a horror flick to watch on Halloween, this is a streaming service that you can love using.
However, you should be aware that Netflix loves to eat up your bandwidth. Like any good streaming service, you should be using high-speed internet to help make sure you can enjoy a good quality watching session. Also, keep an eye on problems with your bandwidth – if you start to notice needless buffering, you might be getting throttled by your internet provider. If that happens, you might want to consider enjoying Netflix on a new form of internet provider for the best results.
While most of us will use Amazon for shopping, some of us use it for streaming – especially movies. It’s quite a lot like Netflix, with some of the most popular and well-watched shoes on the internet appearing on it. Amazon Prime is growing all the time and shows no signs of slowing down. New content is added all the time, bringing in even more opportunity to enjoy the wider experience. You might soon find that Amazon Prime has a larger catalog to pick from than Netflix.
Given who backs up this amazing streaming service, it’s size and scale should be of surprise to nobody. It’s growing all the time at an incredible rate and shows no signs of slowing down. With so much to view and so much to enjoy, Amazon Prime Instant Video is probably one of the most upwardly mobile streaming services that you can access right now.
For a large chunk of Americans, sport dominates much of their social lives. Being able to cheer on your beloved teams at the sport of your choice is always a hugely enjoyable pursuit. However, for many of us, choosing the right way to watch them can be tough. One of the best streaming sites for sports fans at the moment is to use ESPN+, where you can get a huge amount of content to pick from.
There is a growing amount of live and replayable matches that you can watch from just about any kind of sport that you love. Most of us have a team in one of the big US sports, and you should be able to catch them on ESPN without a huge deal of issue. This is a site with a huge amount of content, and it looks set to become even bigger as American sports fans continue to be open-minded about new sports to watch.
FUBO TV is getting a lot of positivity from sports fans who love their sports from other continents. If you are a soccer fan, for example, you’ll love to have FUBO TV – it’s much more diverse than the ESPN+ offering. They cover major leagues in soccer like Serie A, Ligue 1 and La Liga. They also cover a lot of other sports, like the MotoGP and also various other college sports. This is why, for sports fans, FUBO TV is the best alternative to using ESPN+.
Though both are very much well-respected options, many fans are turning to FUBO TV as it has a touch more variety. With the easy control of the packaged add-ons, too, you can pick and choose what you went, when you want it, making it super-simple to get affordable, on-demand sports TV.
Though very much the outsider in many ways, Sling TV is hugely popular with a lot of users. It’s an ambitious project that has grown very quickly in terms of its size and scale in the last few years. With very cheap live TV packages, they allow you to get a lot of variety in what you watch. The fact that it comes with so much opportunity to change contracts, and it has no long-term commitment, makes this a common choice for those who don’t wish to be weighed down with contracts and other such headaches.
Streaming services such as Sling TV are growing all the time. Like most other streaming services like this, too, it does offer a decent trial experience that you can give a shot. With the affordable nature of its live TV offerings, though, those who still like to watch TV on a schedule will love Sling TV for sure.
Getting the most out of each streaming service
Of course, you should always look to make sure that your streaming service is backed up with high-speed internet. Through companies like Easy Internet Now, you can dodge the bandwidth throttling, buffering-causing internet issues that so many Americans face. This is the perfect way for you to get online and to enjoy modern entertainment without feeling trapped or constrained.
With the fact they reduce the need for things like credit checks and contracts, too, EIN is a fine place to start for those who like to stream. High-speed internet is very important for everything from watching your favorite shows to streaming your most beloved games. Quality counts, so don’t accept second best!
When it comes to looking after the list of ‘must haves’ at home in 2019, high-speed internet should be on your list. Quality internet opens so many forms of employment, education, and entertainment for us. However, one problem that you might often have when trying to get good quality internet is the credit check side of things. When you go to sign up for a broadband package, you might be asked to take a credit check. If you do, the credit score that you have might not be enough to get you the contract that you had wanted.
When that happens, you need to be able to find alternatives. It can be frustrating to get rejected for broadband, especially when it comes down to a credit check. Given so many people make a living from the internet today, having slow-speed internet literally limits your employment opportunities. And since we need more money to help improve our credit scores, it pays to be able to have every income stream available open to us.
So, what can you do if you wish to get around the frustration of getting a credit check for broadband?
Why does my broadband application need a credit check?
Given the relatively affordable cost of modern internet services, you might wonder why a credit check is required. Well, if you were to go for even the lowest grade mobile phone contracts, you would need to pass a credit check. Why? Because you are entering into a monthly contractual agreement. It’s the same in any other industry: most companies want to know that you can make your payments.
Therefore, they are within their rights to ask you to show them your credit history. And, sadly, they are also within their rights to reject your application if you are not quite good enough for what they ask for. When this happens, it can feel hugely frustrating. You know that you can afford your bills, but previous credit incidents mean that you might not get accepted.
This leaves you in a perilous position. It means that you are unlikely to get the high-speed internet that you want and need. You could spend less on other bills, such as cable TV, if you had access to internet streaming, for example. So, what can you do if you cannot pass the credit check required?
Look for a broadband provider who does not ask for a credit check
The first – and best – thing to do is to look at your broadband options. You can find that many companies – including Easy Internet Now – make it simple for you to find credit check free high-speed internet. Not every company is going to demand a credit check of you, so keep that in mind. It’s often quite frustrating trying to get broadband, only to find that you are not eligible due to credit frustrations in the past.
EIN is one of the American internet providers that you can trust to give you access to the internet without a credit check being required. If this is something that is off-putting for you when it comes to internet access, then EIN can be the ideal place to start. Unlike other companies, they do not ask you to go through a credit check or undergo an extensive, long-term contract. This allows you to have freedom with your internet options, and to know that you are in a mutually beneficial relationship with your internet provider.
You are under no obligation to accept a credit check – especially if you know you have a patchy history. Instead, you are much more likely to get support and assistance if you turn to a broadband company offering residential broadband without a credit check.
It’s not as hard as you might have first expected. Good quality broadband and Wi-Fi services are not only provided by companies who want you to go through a draconian credit check. Quickly and easily, you can overcome such limits and start using a broadband provider who gives you more leeway and honesty.
It’s hard to get a company to take you on if you are constantly struggling with credit problems. Some companies, though, will not look to discriminate against you in this manner. If you have a poor or middling credit history, improving that credit score can be hard due to constant rejections. With credit check free high-speed internet from EIN, for example, you can build up that credit score once again.
EIN give you the chance to get the opportunity to have high-speed internet without being judged on the past. Why should you always be judged on your financial position in the previous years? The world has undergone massive, global financial flux. You shouldn’t miss out by being caught up in that flux.
Can broadband services without a credit check be trusted?
Yes, 100%. This is a common question of legitimacy that can come up a lot. If someone is not asking you for a credit check, when in the industry checks are common, there is often a hidden or ulterior motive. With a broadband contract, though, companies such as EIN simply want to give you the chance to get back on the ladder.
Not every contract that you sign today should be judged on your actions in the past. With the economic strife that many people have found themselves in beforehand, you might not have been 100% sure where to turn to. There is no reason, though, why you should be put off by a company that simply wishes to be more open-minded about the clients it takes on. If that is the case, then you should look to start using an internet service without a credit check.
The credit check industry has meant that many otherwise successful people have found opportunities needlessly limited. There is no need for that, though. Credit checks only tell part of the story – especially when it comes to getting internet service.
So, if you are someone who has been rejected before, don’t discount a company as they don’t ask for a credit check. They won’t slip in nefarious extra contract shenanigans, nor will they ask for outrageous rates. The main difference is that some high-speed internet providers are happy to give you a chance, even if your present credit score is not quite as high as they might like.
Don’t let yourself be judged so much on the actions of the past. If you think that previous credit decisions might preclude you from having high-speed internet, think again. If you cannot pass a credit check, look at an internet service who won’t denigrate you for that.
When using the internet, one of the most frustrating problems that you can run into is a poor-quality internet service. You are working away, enjoying your evening streaming, gaming or just reading cool content. You start to notice, though, that your internet starts to produce less and less consistency in its results. Your favorite TV show starts to lag uncontrollably. You start missing clear headshots online in your favorite first-person shooter. Next thing you know, you’re respawning because someone you never have seen coming has popped you in the back of the head.
Sound common? Welcome to the horrible world of bandwidth throttling. If you use an internet service that provides bandwidth throttling, you should really consider an alternative. The prospect of bandwidth throttling can seem horribly draconian. It is, though, a problem that many Americans put up with day-in, day-out. What, though, is ‘bandwidth throttling’ in the first place?
What is bandwidth throttling?
The concept of bandwidth throttling is one designed to limit, basically. It’s an intentional, purposeful slowing down of the amount of bandwidth that you can get access to. It’s used for many purposes, none of them helpful to you, the customer, in any way. It’s a form of speed lowering used by internet service providers that stops your internet speed from reaching its peak potential.
Bandwidth throttling can happen on desktop and mobile devices, across wired connections or wireless via Wi-Fi. It can happen at various points during the connection process from your PC/mobile device to the website or online service that you are using (like an online game or streaming platform).
It’s a system that is used that, really, never benefits you as a consumer. Paying for high-speed internet that does produce consistently high speeds is a massive frustration. It means that you literally cannot access the information that you wish to access as quickly as you could or should.
So, why does bandwidth throttling happen?
As is often the case, the company who offers your internet supply is the clear winner here. They manage to get a lot out of reducing our bandwidth allocation. Doing this at certain periods of time during the day – often the time that you need/want good connectivity the most – helps to reduce server loads. It means that the company is having to invest fewer resources in processing data. The less data you can process at speed, the less they have to process on their end.
This allows the company to have to spend less on servers but also on equipment to manage the internet at the speed you need. Another reason why bandwidth throttling takes place is a lot less wholesome – it’s purely down to cost. If they hit you with a frustrating, evening-ruining throttled speed, you might just upgrade to the next package up – the one that promises less or no throttling.
Those who are using the internet professionally or for most of their entertainment, then, are essentially bullied into paying even more than they should. It’s a common part of the market and a rather unfair practice. It’s become part of the process, and one of the many reasons why US internet service users are watching their monthly costs for the internet go higher, higher and higher. This, naturally, produces negative results long-term.
Why else might my bandwidth get throttled?
Another reason why you might have the frustration of bandwidth throttling is the fact that you are using a service the ISP does not like. This happens when you are picking up data from a platform that the ISP would rather you did not use. Many of these are somewhat legitimate reasons, such as stopping you from using excessive internet speed to download torrents via a peer-to-peer file sharing platform. It will also be used to help reduce the amount of time that you can spend on things like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime. The solution, of course, is to simply spend more. If you want access to the best things that the internet might be able to offer you, you will have to pay a premium fee to your internet provider in terms of going with a higher rate of an internet service contract.
But I thought my internet plan was unlimited?
Sadly, unlimited has become a term of meaningless usage when it comes to an internet service. Many ISPs manage to fit in unwritten rules regarding how much of the internet you can use on that one given day. Artificial limits – which are never made clear – can really impact and inhibit how much you can get out of your day when using the internet.
This is a common frustration. Bandwidth caps are often in the smallest of small print, or not mentioned at all. That can mean that you often see your internet usage throttled and weakened, ruining any potential plans for the evening. At this point, you have two options. You can pay even more for high-speed internet that you should already be getting. Or, you look for an alternative supplier of your internet service. If you cannot find a way to reduce bandwidth throttling with your present plan, it’s time to consider the latter.
Get an internet service who respects your decisions
You have no reason to put up with bandwidth throttling. At Easy Internet Now, you can find a high-speed internet provider who avoids any form of bandwidth throttling. For the reasons that we’ve explained above, you can see why it’s such an unscrupulous, unfair experience. Why should you be punished so heavily?
Don’t allow yourself to be taken for a fool. With an internet service which prioritizes consistency, you can enjoy a far more robust, enjoyable internet experience day-to-day. Don’t put up with second best, and never accept bandwidth throttling. With so many alternate internet providers who make it easy to avoid such practices, you can stay clear of this frustration. If you are someone who wants to help improve their internet usage, you should start here.
As one of the most commonly discussed topics of the day, the quality of American internet service remains a hot talking point. Many people across America suffer from low internet speeds and poor internet service overall. While companies like Easy Internet Now fight to stop this problem, and provide high speed internet in more than 20 states, some locations are still limited in their options. The Erie County executive, Mark Poloncarz, has called for a wholesale change to how high-speed internet is delivered across the county.
Far from the only American official fighting for better internet in rural areas, this $20m proposal could build a 360-mile fiber network. The aim is to try and help with speed caps during peak internet usage hours. Presently, the executive himself uses a satellite provider, and finds his own service to be capped at the busiest times. This is an interesting move, though, as many people now value the internet as part of their daily necessities.
Many of us use the internet for work, for education and for communication. It has, in many ways, replaced everything from the phone to the newspaper for many of us. Therefore, poor quality – and overly expensive – internet speeds in some parts of the USA can hobble the opportunities that those Americans have.
People like Poloncarz, then, want to try and change that, state-by-state. However, he faces opposition from Republican legislators, who want the money to come from private sources instead of the public purse. The argument against that, though, is the one above. If things like roads are seen as a vital public source of travel, then surely the internet – in 2019 – is now a vital part of day-to-day life?
A changing of the times
While this might eventually be voted down by the legislators, it’s an interesting move in a new direction. For years, the internet has been seen as a solution for private companies to solve. With the internet growing more and more important in our daily lives, though, people are beginning to slowly but surely change their minds on its importance.
Millions of Americans work online now, many of us working from home. Fast and reliable internet is needed to make sure we can provide the best of our services and skills. This is why high-speed internet should not be seen as just a boon, but a necessity. If the plan was to go through in Erie County, NY, this would provide many more Americans with high quality internet by 2021.
The country is in need of a mass change to its internet service standards. Through companies like EIN, many Americans are able to get hold of high-quality internet speeds in areas they might not otherwise find a suitable service. With officials and legislators pushing heavily to change this, though, we could see a big jump in the way that the web is treated as a resource.
For now, though, it’s interesting to see officials pushing for a more balanced spread of high speed internet options. In time, this could become essential to growth, development and improvement of the US in many different ways.
For any online gamer using a high-speed internet service, this story will feel very familiar. You get into a high-stakes battle with an opponent in the game of your choice. After much maneuvering and managing, and a little bit of good fortune along the way, you win. You get the results, the rewards and the ego boost that comes with any hard-fought victory. Then, your chosen game client pings: you have a new message. It’s your vanquished foe, saying that you are a cheat who “throttled his internet” and that you “only won because of lag”.
Sound like an experience you’ve had to laugh your way through before? It’s funny when the shoe is on the other foot. When your internet service throttles performance, or cannot keep up the standard, and you lose out, though, it is infuriating. You feel cheated. All your work and effort ruined by a drop-off in latency, resulting in your lagging internet not allowing you to react.
Internet speed across America is, depending on your internet provider, inconsistent to say the least. Go with a good provider, and you might have nothing to worry about. Choose someone who limits bandwidth, though, and you might just run out of latency at the wrong moment. Does it have the massive impact that so many gamers believe it does, though?
How much does internet speed impact on your gaming prowess on your title(s) of choice?
Slow, throttled internet will always hamper performance
As a gamer, every click can be the one that counts. From sending that sniper shot through the back of an opponent’s skull to sending your troops to ambush the opponent, speed of internet connectivity is no laughing matter. The drawbacks of having slow and poor-quality internet will very quickly begin to shine through.
For example, you’ll often find that your slow internet service will frustrate other gamers. This can make it hard for you to build a good rapport with teammates. If they are always waiting for you to spawn in before the game can start, they’ll get tired of waiting. They might also begin to get tired of your poor performance being put down to lag. Yes, they will be happy to put up with it when it happens from time to time. If you are always last or putting in poor performances due to not being able to react in time, you can soon find yourself out of your gaming circuit unceremoniously.
Fair? Not really. But when other gamers in the server all have smooth performance and your lagging is causing them to lose, you’ll be the one to get the blame. Whether you want to game for fun, for streaming or for competitive payment, good quality internet is essential. You’ll often be kicked from servers – or banned outright – if your internet connection stops others from playing to the highest standard that they possibly can.
Good quality internet allows for the maximum experience
One of the most important parts of playing a game online is that it should feel smooth. This isn’t the turn of the millennium any more: needless lag and latency issues will frustrate. With faster internet that is not locked or throttled, you can play the game much faster. Most maps and games need to download temporary assets before you can log in. With fast internet, you’ll never be the one holding up the rest of the party from starting their game for the evening.
You will also be able to stick around until the end. People being dropped and kicked from servers is depressingly common when they don’t have high-speed internet. If you want a smooth gaming experience where you can forge alliances and make friends, having a smooth internet connection helps. People want to know that they can trust you to be there when the game reaches its crescendo. With high-speed internet, you make that far more likely. Gaming online is a very fun social experience, but people want to know that they can rely upon you to play without dropping off.
You can reduce lagging, glitches and general service issues by having high speed internet. This not only makes it easier for you to perform, but to perform when playing with others. So, if you are serious about gaming online, investing in good high-quality internet that stays up for the whole evening is essential long-term.
Finding good quality, high speed internet for gamers
There are many forms of internet that you should investigate if you are going to be playing games online. Your high-speed internet should first and foremost be from a company that promises no throttling. This lets you to know that you can game to your maximum all night long without hampering the internet performance in-game or for other internet users at home.
You can find that you can get a lot of affordable broadband plans, such as those from Easy Internet Now. This helps you to get online and to enjoy the gaming experience with no latency. Don’t go for something that has speed caps, maximum usage per day or anything like that. Modern gaming is going to burn through even the most generous of caps, so keep that in mind moving forward.
We recommend that you look for high quality, fast paced internet. Anything in the 10mbps range is likely to be good enough, but you should never cap your ambitions. Anything under 4mbps is probably best avoided, though: most online gaming services, like the Sony PlayStation Network and Microsoft Xbox LIVE, will often run poorly outside of this.
Keep that in mind, as it will likely inform a large part of your decision-making process moving forward. The best gaming experiences online, though, will always be served well with faster internet. So, if you are sick of always coming last due to lag, or being the scapegoat for slow game loading times, consider a faster internet plan. Don’t let yourself be the one to let the team down!
It’s Cyber Monday! Time to break out those wallets and throw caution to the wind. It’s the day where we all learn about a product, decide we absolutely must have it and then buy it because it’s “such a great deal!”
We’re not going to compile a list, because everyone else already has. We’re just going to point you to some good ideas. So, here you go!
Couldn’t find anything to buy? Good job – you did better than us.
Do you watch a lot of YouTube? If you have a lot of subscriptions or find yourself going down a rabbit hole on a regular basis, you may be spending more time on the service than you really should. YouTube will now make it possible for you to limit yourself and take breaks from streaming videos through their service.
YouTube is now introducing their feature that will encourage watchers to “take a break,” says Android Authority. The newly updated version of YouTube is adding settings that let users customize how long they watch. In the “General” section of the YouTube app’s settings, users who have updated the app will find an option called “Remind me to take a break.” Using this setting will prompt YouTube to send out reminders after a certain length of time. These reminders can be dismissed and won’t actually lock watchers out of the app. But they will let people get an idea of how long they’ve been watching and then choose to pause for a while.
With this setting, users can decide how long they can watch before being prompted to stop streaming. There are six options to choose from, including “Never” as the shortest time and “”Every 180 minutes” as the longer time. There are also more moderate options like “Every 60 minutes.” If you’re really wanting to cut back on your watching, you can even pick “Every 15 minutes,” though I don’t know many people who can really stop themselves after just 15 minutes.
There are plenty of really great videos and channels on YouTube, and of course it’s not necessary to stop watching altogether. But some people can find it hard to stop bingeing videos, which means it can be really helpful to get some reminders to stop wasting so much time. Since they’re just reminders and they don’t actually lock the app, the main concern is that YouTube binge watchers will simply get in the habit of dismissing the notification periodically. But there are other apps that can do this if necessary, and YouTube’s approach will be a much gentler one for those who just need a little bit of a push.
The update is being rolled out now, according to Android Authority. Look for this new feature in your app’s settings after you’ve updated.
There’s been even more hype in recent months with all the superhero films and TV shows that have come out recently. Marvel in particular has had some huge movies come out, bringing even more interest in their character. With the release of the newest Avengers film, Infinity War, many have wondered about the original storyline from the comics that the film was based on. Even if you’re not a fan of Marvel or DC, there are tons of other comics out there, too.
If you’re wanting to catch up on some older comics or start keeping up with new ones, there are some easy ways to do so online. Most of these options cost money, while others can be free (or at least offer a free trial). Happy reading!
This service from Marvel lets you read digital versions of their tens of thousands of comics. You can read as many comics as you’d like while you’re subscribed. You can read on their website or on their Marvel Unlimited app. You can also get some special features if you get an annual subscription or the annual plus subscription (like discounts on purchases and cool free items). With the app, you can download comics to read offline, so you don’t have to worry about having a consistent internet connection. The monthly service is $9.99 a month, while the annual subscriptions are $69 and $99.
This service lets you read digital versions of Dark Horse comics (like Hellboy and The Legend of Korra). They do have some free comics available to read, including comics from Free Comic Book Day. Other comics are available for individual purchase and can range in cost (many are only $1.99).
Comixology offers digital comics and is a part of Amazon. The app has a lot of great features, including their “guided view” that lets you tap on the screen to move from panel to panel. You can buy individual comics, buy a whole series, and even subscribe to a series. There are tens of thousands of comics available, including popular titles like Justice League, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Star Wars, and Old Man Logan. There are even some free comics available to browse.
If you’re interested in old comics, you’ll like the Digital Comic Museum. This website compiles old comics that are now in the public domain. They’re all free to read, and though you won’t find some of the more popular and modern titles, you can find some fun reads. You can find some old Daredevil comics, as well as Sherlock Holmes and Billy the Kid.
Of course, you can also find DC comics in digital form. The DC Digital Comics website and app lets you purchase individual comics. Many range from $1.99 to $3.99. There are even some free comics available, some of which are from Free Comic Book Day. You can find pretty much all the DC titles you’d expect here!
Your local library
Looking for free comics? If you have a library account, you can probably read some digital comics for free. Many libraries now use services like Hoopla and OverDrive. And yes, there are some comics available to borrow. You can find a wide variety of Marvel and DC titles, as well as many others. So if you’re looking for an easy, free way to casually catch up on comics, check out your local library’s website to see if they use these digital services.
Microsoft has now announced their plan to take care of screen flicker issues with the Surface Pro 4. According to a recent article on Microsoft’s Support site, they will be replacing many of their Surface Pro 4s that have the screen flicker issue.
According to their post, Microsoft has noted that a “small percentage” of their Surface Pro 4s have a problem with the screen flickering. Customers have been posting about the issue in Microsoft’s Support section for months. Back in February, The Verge wrote about how some customers were putting their devices in the freezer so they might stop the screen flickering problem (an issue that was referred to by some as “Flickergate”). In The Verge’s article, they noted that at that time, flickering issues had been going on for at least a year, and hundreds of people had been dealing with the issue.
Now Microsoft is doing something about it. Surface Pro 4 owners who go through the replacement process within three years of buying the device can now get a full replacement for free. They do note that the device must be fully updated (to make sure the screen flickering actually does still occur) and that if the device has been damaged through other means (like having someone else try to work on the device) it won’t be eligible.
But if a customer has the screen flicker issue on their Surface Pro 4, they can contact Microsoft, get verification that they’re eligible, send the device back, and get a refurbished device within around a week after Microsoft has received the damaged one.
They also note that if a customer has “already paid an out-of-warranty fee” to take care of this specific issue, the customer can get a refund for the repair. This means people who didn’t wait around for this replacement program won’t be out a lot of extra money that other people didn’t have to pay.
If you have a Surface Pro 4 that’s been plagued with the screen flickering problem, take a look at Microsoft’s article and start taking the first steps toward replacement.
